Wild Geese

You do not have to be good

About

Geese

My name is Sue, I’m married to Ray and also share a house with a lovely feline called Maisy.

I have a thing about geese - well most birds in general if i’m honest. During one of those times that happen in life when everything has lost its colour, and you think you will never smile or laugh again, a very close friend emailed the poem “Wild Geese” by Mary Oliver to me. It touched my heart and rermains one of my favourite poems. The colour did return to my life, and i laugh and smile a lot these days.

One of the things that helped to bring the colour back was Amida Buddha. Ray and took Refuge in Amida in October 2005. It is a Pureland tradition of Buddhism, and one that has helped us both to grow. It has also led to friendships, much love, and much laughter.

I’ve worked most of my life in children’s books. Sadly i lost my job this year due to ill health, and i’m waiting for another operation. So I don’t know what i’ll be doing careerwise in the future. I’m currently studying for a diploma in politics and economics with the Open Univeristy (OU). I adore the OU, and made lots of friends through the university when i studied with them 7 years ago for a degree in pyschology. So with such a wide range of interests something will come along, and i look forward to 2007 and getting back to work at some time doing something. It’s quite exciting not knowing what is around the corner. In the meantime this blog will help to keep me occupied.

I’ll be blogging about different things - things that get my goat, things that make me smile, and things that get me thinking.
